On August 22, 2025, Neel Aviation prepared and exported a DR-109 aerobatic aircraft to Uruguay. The aircraft was ferried in from Texas to our facility at Lakeland Linder International Airport in Florida, where our crew managed the full disassembly, fixture mounting, and containerization before international shipment.

This project was a standout—not only because of the aircraft’s final destination, but also because of the DR-109’s reputation in the aerobatic community.

The DR-109: An Aerobatic Performer

The DR-109 is a high-performance aerobatic aircraft designed for advanced maneuvers and competition flying. Known for its agility, responsiveness, and strength, the DR-109 can handle the demanding stresses of aerobatic routines.

What makes this particular aircraft even more eye-catching is its wooden wing construction, a detail that combines craftsmanship with performance. Aerobatic pilots value the DR-109 for its balance between durability and precision handling, making it a popular choice for both training and competition.

In Uruguay, where aviation enthusiasts and aerobatic pilots are steadily expanding the general aviation community, this aircraft will continue to perform in the skies, showcasing the artistry of aerobatic flight.

Preparing the DR-109 for Export

Exporting an aerobatic aircraft requires the same attention to detail as agricultural and utility planes, but with additional focus on protecting sensitive structures designed to withstand high G-forces. For this shipment, our crew:

By designing fixtures in-house, we ensure that every aircraft—whether a spray plane, a light sport, or an aerobatic performer—is supported properly during shipment.

Uruguay and Aerobatic Aviation

While Uruguay may be best known for agriculture and exports, it also has a vibrant and growing aviation community. Aerobatic aircraft like the DR-109 (avión acrobático) offer pilots the chance to train, compete, and perform at airshows, inspiring new generations of aviators.

The arrival of this DR-109 highlights Neel Aviation’s ability to support not just agricultural and utility aviation, but also the exciting and highly specialized world of aerobatics.

Global Expertise, Tailored Solutions

With decades of experience, Neel Aviation has shipped aircraft across South America, Africa, Asia, and beyond. Each project is tailored to the unique needs of the aircraft type—whether that means securing spray gear, protecting twin-engine mounts, or safeguarding delicate aerobatic wings.

From Texas to Florida, and then on to Uruguay, this DR-109 project is another example of Neel Aviation’s commitment to precision, safety, and global aviation support.
